Spoiler warning: We’re talking about Madam’s shooting investigation, Amp and Toni, Tandy’s alibi, Quincy’s loose lips, Babyface stealing credit and that wild ending.
Baby, Episode 6 is called “Wop, Wop, Wop,” and by the end I understood the assignment.
Because somebody was getting hit.
Somebody was getting exposed.
Somebody was getting burned.
And Ms. Tandy might want to start looking into witness protection.
Madam opens this episode still furious that nobody has figured out who shot her. She is scared, angry and suspicious of everybody around her, including Blue and Tommy.
Blue manages to calm her down, but Madam is clearly not herself yet.
And honestly?
I get it.
If somebody shot me and everybody around me kept coming back with:
“Well, we’re still looking…”
I would be irritated too.
But Madam’s patience is officially on life support.
Detective Davis Is Looking HARD at Tandy
Remember how Tandy’s phone was near Eden the night Madam was shot?
Well, Detective Davis is not letting that go.
Tandy claims she had been drinking and went out driving that night.
Okay.
Not ideal when you are the mayor, but continue.
Then Davis reveals that Tandy made several calls to Madam that same night.
Tandy tries to explain those away, but baby, those excuses are not helping.
Because now we have:
Tandy angry with Madam.
Tandy near Eden.
Tandy repeatedly calling Madam.
And Tandy needing somebody to verify where she was.
That is not an alibi.
That is an episode of First 48.
Then Detective Davis talks to Quincy.
And Quincy finally admits that he lied when he said Tandy was with him the entire night.
According to him, Tandy was drunk and angry about Madam before he left.
Now Davis wants Tandy’s gun tested.
And Quincy?
Quincy starts thinking about that reward money again.
This man will monetize ANYTHING.
Amp Finally Gets an Explanation From Toni
Amp goes to confront Toni because he is tired of her bouncing in and out of his life.
One minute she wants to be close.
The next minute she’s cussing everybody out.
Then suddenly she wants to be grandma of the year.
Amp has had enough.
That is when Toni finally tells him something deeply personal: she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is working with her doctor to stabilize things with treatment.
This was actually one of the better emotional scenes of the episode.
Toni doesn’t use her diagnosis as an excuse for everything she has done.
She explains that she understands now that something was wrong and asks Amp whether they might eventually rebuild their relationship.
Amp doesn’t immediately throw himself into her arms.
And I liked that.
Because understanding WHY somebody hurt you doesn’t magically erase the hurt.
But it does open a door.
Now whether Amp walks through that door?
We’ll see.
Madam Calls Smoke and Says Handle That Officer
Madam is also still furious about what happened to Rayshon.
She calls Smoke and gives him one job:
Handle Officer Combs.
And when Madam says handle somebody, she is NOT asking for a strongly worded email.
Smoke gathers several people who say Combs destroyed their lives through police brutality, false evidence and abuse.
Then Smoke lets them get some revenge of their own.
And baby…
It gets ugly.
Combs thought he was dealing with people he had already gotten away with hurting.
Nope.
Smoke saves the grand finale for himself and uses kerosene before setting Combs on fire.
That whole scene was brutal.
Madam said she wanted him to suffer.
Smoke apparently heard:
“Be creative.”
Mission accomplished.
Blue and Tommy Are Still Hunting That Valet
Blue and Tommy continue chasing leads connected to the mystery car from the night Madam was shot.
Their search takes them back to Carla because a valet named Hakeem may know something.
Carla claims she doesn’t know where he is and says he quit.
Blue and Tommy do not believe this woman as far as they can throw Eden.
And neither do I.
Every time Carla starts acting like she knows absolutely nothing, I immediately assume she knows at least six things.
Eventually they manage to keep the investigation moving toward Hakeem.
So while the police are looking at Tandy, Blue and Tommy are still working the car angle.
Which means we potentially have two different roads leading toward the shooter.
Or one of these roads is about to waste everybody’s time.
Quincy and Babyface Have Their Father-Son Moment… Until Babyface Ruins It
Quincy and Babyface perform together at Eden as the club’s first father-and-son dancing duo.
And surprisingly?
They kill it.
The crowd loves them.
Madam loves the idea.
For about five minutes, I thought:
Awww. Look at them bonding.
Then Babyface ruins it.
Madam compliments Babyface for coming up with the idea.
Except…
It was Quincy’s idea.
And Babyface happily accepts the praise.
QUINCY WAS HOT.
He looks at his daddy like:
So this is what we’re doing?
Babyface basically tells him that if he has another good idea, maybe he should keep it to himself.
Sir!
You just reunited with your son and you’re already stealing his intellectual property?
We have skipped several parenting stages.
Quincy walks away furious, and I have a feeling that little father-son honeymoon period is officially over.
Madam Learns Tandy Is the Suspect
Here comes the BIG part.
Madam finds out through her police connection that investigators have somebody in mind, but Detective Davis refuses to tell her who.
So Madam eventually gets the answer somewhere else.
Quincy.
Madam learns Quincy was questioned about Tandy’s alibi.
Then he tells her Tandy is being investigated and that police want to test Tandy’s gun.
Madam’s face changes IMMEDIATELY.
Because from her perspective, Quincy has been sitting on possible information about the woman who shot her while running around trying to collect reward money.
Quincy actually thinks Madam might respect his hustle.
No.
No, she does not.
She makes it very clear that if he ever takes information about HER attempted murder to the police before bringing it to her again, he may become the next person needing medical attention.
Quincy has finally discovered there are some situations where entrepreneurship is inappropriate.
And Tandy Is in TROUBLE
The episode closes with Madam taking matters into her own hands.
Tandy ends up at Madam’s mercy while Madam confronts her about the shooting.
And Tandy is terrified.
Madam is convinced enough by what she has heard that she is ready to make Tandy pay before the investigation is even finished.
Tandy insists she didn’t shoot her.
But Madam?
Madam has electricity involved.
Baby.
When somebody starts bringing electrical equipment into an interrogation, we have passed the questioning stage.
Tandy may be the suspect.
But I’m still not convinced she is actually the shooter.
There are too many moving pieces.
And if this show has spent six episodes pointing us toward her this loudly?
That makes me suspicious all over again.
My Take
“Wop, Wop, Wop” finally gave me what I wanted:
REAL movement on the shooter storyline.
We went from everybody wandering around with theories to an actual suspect, a questionable alibi and a gun being tested.
Now THAT is progress.
The Amp and Toni scene gave us some needed emotion, while Babyface stealing Quincy’s idea gave me exactly the kind of petty mess I come to this show for.
And Smoke?
That man completed Madam’s assignment with enthusiasm I personally found concerning.
My only question now is whether Tandy actually shot Madam.
Because Tandy definitely looks guilty of something.
But being shady and being the shooter are two different things.
And Carla is still floating around in the background acting entirely too comfortable for me.

This episode pushed the mystery forward, gave Amp a major family moment, let Smoke get completely out of control and ended with Madam ready to fry answers out of Tandy.
Now I need that ballistics report.
Because if Tandy’s gun comes back clean?
Madam is going to be MAD all over again.
